Purity ring

Purity ring is designed to encourage a commitment to purity for a young man or woman in their commitment to Christ. In the news lately there has been a focus on those celebrities who unashamedly display their  vows of chastity with their purity ring.  Some of hese stars include: The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Hilary Duff, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez and Jordin Sparks.

The Purity ring makes a statement to the world that their relationship with God is real, and living.  It seems that being labeled a Christian in these cases has had positive outcomes.  Maybe society is waking up to the fact that the pendulum needs to sway a little more toward purity, rather than the worlds current view that sex is empty and fleeting.

I applaud those who make this statement through displaying their purity ring.  I hope that more and more of us will set the standard and lead the way in a trend toward purity.

Adamas Inc. with their new diamond cut the" Cross of Light diamond" is getting a lot of attention in being used in a purity ring.  Even beyond having a Purity ring made with the Cross of Light diamond in it, more and more people are learning of the use of contempo lapidary equipment in designing their own meaningful gemstone and diamond setting.  The website Adamas produced for designing your own jewelry can help make sense of the design process.

This type of Purity ring tells a story about who you are, and what you believe.  A sort of testimony or your personal faith journey.

The purified soul

A Diamond is not just a romantic symbol but also a sacred one. A sacred symbol representing one of the oldest sacraments.  Traditionally, the image of the purified soul was seen as complete when it was able to reflect Divine light perfectly. The soul is purified when one has given their heart to the Lord completely.  The main symbol for this selfless act of sacrifice has been the CROSS.  And so, we made a diamond with the cross that reflects light.  A perfect image of this act of giving your heart to someone.

Design your own jewelry for its meaning

Traditionally jewelry has been seen as symbolic.  Everything we wear represents our ideals.  It is a reflection of the values we hold.  Check out:  ( design Christian jewelry .com) which  has information on how to design jewelry that is meaningful for yourself or a loved one.

Clothed for Glory

The entire span of Christian salvation history has been described as putting on and taking off clothing before their disobedience, Adam and Eve wore a garment of glory or light.  Expelled from the garden, they wore leaves.  Christ shed his garment of light and took on a body.  In this way all mankind acquired, once again, a garment of glory.

This image of putting on and taking off clothing as a way to describe the Christian story have been expressed poetically.

All these changes did the Merciful One make,

Stripping off glory and putting on a body;

For he had devised a way to reclothe Adam

in that glory which Adam had stripped off.

Christ came to find Adam who had gone astray,

He came to return him to Eden in the garment of light

Blessed is He who had pity on Adam’s leaves

And sent a robe of glory to cover his naked state.

In Bethlehem did king David put on fine linen.

But David’s Lord and Son

Hid his glory there in His swaddling clothes

These same swaddling clothes

Provided a robe of glory for humankind.

St Ephrem the Syrian, ( 4th cent.)

In an allusion to Matt. 22  (an invited guest to a wedding party was thrown out because he did not have the right wedding garment, St Ephrem continues,

The immortal Bridegroom shines out in that robe:

Let the guests in their clothing resemble Him in His

Let your bodies – which are your clothing –

Shine out, ---.

I also was given the Cross of Light diamond. My husband was 99 years old. He was the love of my life. I never expected anything like this but, when he was in the hospital he gave me a pendant with the Cross diamond in it. He asked me how I liked it, and I said it was beatiful. He pulled me in close and said "you deserve it"... He went to sleep after that, and never woke up. I will treasure his gift always.

I didn't buy the Cross of Light Diamond but,I just inherited one. My godmother just died of cancer and she willed it to me. I was certainly not expecting it, and I was especially moved by the spiritual meaning behind the diamond. I couldn't ask for a more special memorial to remind me of the special spiritual connection we shared. She died on All Saints Day. I was in church that morning and I lit a candle for her. I began to weep suddenly and didn't know why. Later I learned that she had died at that same time. I beleive she visited me on her way home.
